On Wednesday 23 April, seven final year Law Plus students presented their brochures on Animal Welfare in the European Union. Three students, Ellie Williamson, Hannah Keane and Molly Looney presented on the Cosmetics Regulation. They discussed the history of the Regulation going back to 1976 when the Cosmetics Directive was published. The group looked at alternatives to animal testing and identified gaps in the Regulation in light of the REACH Regulation. Aidan McCarthy, Dara King, Eoghan O’Dwyer and Peter Power discussed ‘Pawlicy Matters’ which focused on the transportation of live animals and rules relating to cage sizes. Their presentation highlighted the importance of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the need for reform in transportation rules.
Both groups produced information brochures. The students put in immense work into the design and content of the brochures.
The project was supervised by Dr Laura Donnellan. A special thank you to PhD candidate, Pamela Gubbins, who helped with the presentations.
Well done to Aidan, Dara, Ellie, Eoghan, Hannah, Molly and Peter on producing such great brochures.
