Pre-Travel Checklist for students who have a medical condition or who are taking regular medication

  1. I have discussed the pros and cons of living in a foreign country with my medical condition/s with my doctor in my own country.
  2. I have a letter confirming my diagnosis and treatment plan from my doctor.
  3. I am bringing my medication with me
    OR
I have checked that my medication is readily available in Ireland.
    OR
If my treatment is not available in Ireland, I have discussed an alternative treatment with my doctor that is available, and I am happy to proceed with my travel plans.
  4. I have sent an email to ecustoms@revenue.ie to confirm what the customs procedure is for bringing medication to Ireland and what I need to do.
  5. If my medication is not available in Ireland:
I understand that my treatment may need specialist supervision whilst I am studying in Ireland and that there may be delays getting an appointment with a specialist.
If my particular condition is high risk and requires continuity specialist treatment, without interruption, my doctor has organised this prior to my travel.

Please see our information regarding medications and other issues. If you have any queries, please send an email to StudentHealthCentre@ul.ie and one of our doctors will review your query.
